Ramp Project

In collaboration with the Chesapeake Housing Mission, the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary funded and built a wheel chair ramp for Ms. Eva Parker, age 80, of Decatur Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland. On a chilly Saturday morning in November under the direction of Don Taylor and David Downes (who is also a Rotarian) of the Chesapeake Housing Mission, 10 Salisbury Sunrise Rotarians and some of their family members showed up at Ms. Parker’s house with their personal tools, equipment and enthusiasm. By that afternoon one engineer, a couple of construction experts, and many more construction novices had completed an attractive and functional wheelchair ramp that enables Ms. Parker to move more easily from her home to her yard. Sunrise Rotary participants were delighted to witness Ms. Parker’s joy over the new ramp and to stand by our motto "Building Communities - Bridging Continents."
